Holding Hope and Horror: Vicarious Trauma and Vicarious Resilience in Gender Affirming Work

What is this Workshop About?

Working with trans and gender-diverse clients in today’s sociopolitical climate means holding extraordinary contrasts; moments of deep joy and liberation alongside grief, rage, and fear. Clinicians are often quietly absorbing the weight of this collective trauma while also witnessing breathtaking resilience. This training explores how the emotional landscape of gender-affirming work impacts the clinician’s mind, body, and spirit.

Through reflection, discussion, and experiential practice, participants will examine vicarious trauma and vicarious resilience as dual forces shaping their capacity to stay present and sustainable in this work. We’ll move beyond “self-care” into meaning-making, collective care, and embodied strategies for navigating both the horror and the hope.

G33ky Clinicians, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7958. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. G33ky Clinicians, LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
